Community members are invited to attend an upcoming information session to learn more about tax season volunteer opportunities through Free File.
Free File is an IRS VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program which serves individuals and families in Pickens County with an annual household income of $60,000 or less. This program relies on community volunteers who receive IRS training and certification to serve as tax preparers, intake coordinators, interpreters and more.

In response to Hurricane Helene's devastation to our community, United Way of Pickens County has opened a Hurricane Relief Fund to help our neighbors in need.
United Way is coordinating services with local nonprofits and community leaders to provide support for Pickens County's most vulnerable neighbors during this critical time, such as food, shelter and access to basic healthcare.

United Way of Pickens County will host the 2024 Annual Meeting on Thursday, September 26 at Tri-County Technical College. Doors open at 11:00 a.m. and the lunch event begins at 11:30 a.m.

In partnership with the City of Liberty, United Way of Pickens County will offer Financial Literacy classes for Liberty, SC residents. On Thursday, September 19, the topic will be "Improving Credit and Reducing Debt." The session will be held from 6-7 p.m. at the Rosewood Center. Childcare will be offered for children 12 and under thanks to the generous volunteers from Potters Clay Fellowship.
United Way of Pickens County seeks to create a more supportive and compassionate environment for those living with addiction and mental health challenges through Empathy in Action event
United Way of Pickens County is hosting Empathy in Action, an interactive behavioral health simulation event, to raise awareness of the challenges faced by individuals experiencing substance abuse disorders and mental health conditions.
