Be a VITA Superhero!

Great volunteers are the key to our success. Last year, more than 40 community volunteers helped more than 1,700 individuals with an average income of $19,935 receive free tax preparation services, returning an average of $910 in refunds per VITA participant.

We are currently recruiting volunteer greeters and preparers. No experience is necessary to volunteer. All volunteers will receive training and become IRS Certified Tax Preparers for free. Training begins in January. Volunteers donate at least 3-5 hours per week for the duration of tax season at sites located in Liberty, Central, Easley and Pickens. This is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in helping their neighbor in a significant way. The IRS certification counts towards continuing education for accountants and financial managers, and would be excellent experience for students seeking experience in working with the public or in the business and financial sector. To volunteer, contact James Nestell, 864-850-7094, ext.131.
