Luncheon for Literacy

The Women United Luncheon for Literacy is an annual fundraising event supporting early literacy in Pickens County, South Carolina. Hosted at Tri-County Technical College in Easley, this community luncheon benefits Preschool Pages, a program providing books and literacy resources to toddlers and their caregivers. The event features keynote speaker Dr. C.C. Bates of Clemson University’s Early Literacy Center for South Carolina and raises awareness of the importance of early childhood literacy, community engagement, and educational equity.
Together, let's make a difference in the lives of young children in our community!

Make a Stock Gift

A gift of stock may be one of the most financially sound ways to invest in Pickens County. When you donate appreciated stock directly to United Way, you may avoid capital gains taxes while receiving a charitable deduction for the full market value, which means more of your wealth goes to work in the community rather than to taxes.

Most stock gifts are made by transferring shares directly from your brokerage account to ours. If you hold physical stock certificates, please contact us directly for secure transfer instructions.

Pathways at Work

Your employees come to work carrying things you don't see. The eviction notice. The unexpected bill. The car repair they can't afford. The IRS letter sitting on the kitchen counter. The kid who needs something they can't say yes to.

Most of the time, you'll never hear about it. They won't tell HR. They won't tell their manager. They'll just push through, until something gives. Performance slips. They start calling out. They quietly start looking for somewhere else to work.

Pathways at Work changes what happens next.

Join Us for Preschool Pages

Preschool Pages sessions are FREE and take place at 14 sites across Pickens County. They are open to preschool aged children who are accompanied by their parent, grandparent or other adult caregiver. Children and their caregivers will participate in story time and related early learning activities, and will take home a FREE book- provided by generous Women United donors- from each session to build their own home libraries.

Donations make these programs possible and are gladly accepted.

Women United

Three-year-old Lily stood frozen in the doorway. The room was loud. The other children were strangers. Lily buried her face in her mother's sleeve.

By the fourth Preschool Pages session, she was the first one through the door.

That transformation happened because a group of women in Pickens County decided it should.
