FINANCIAL LITERACY CLASSES

A Pickens County mom finishes her GED class on a Tuesday night, and on Wednesday morning she sits at a car dealership trying to make sense of a loan offer. Should she sign? For too many of our neighbors, this is the moment where a single decision can mean years of debt, or the first real step toward stability. At United Way of Pickens County, we believe no one should have to face those moments alone. Your gift helps provide the free, practical financial literacy classes that give Pickens County adults the tools to make confident decisions and build lasting financial security.

Long-Term Recovery Group

On a quiet road in Pickens County, a family is still living under a tarp-covered roof, waiting for the repairs that will let them sleep through the night without worry. The news trucks left long ago. The headlines moved on. The damage did not.

Recovery does not end when a disaster passes. For many of our neighbors, it is still happening.

The Pickens County Long-Term Recovery Group (LTRG) is a cooperative network of local nonprofits, faith communities, government partners, and volunteers working together to help individuals and families recover after disaster. The LTRG helps close the gaps that remain after insurance, personal resources, and available assistance have been exhausted, so no neighbor is left behind as attention shifts elsewhere.

211 Resource Line

Sometimes life gets hard. A job loss, an unexpected bill, a family in need of food or a safe place to stay. Whatever you or someone you know is facing, help is available- and it starts with a simple call.

Community Investment

Where should this dollar go? It's the question every donor asks, and it's the question the volunteer Impact Councils of United Way of Pickens County answer every year.

Impact Councils are made up of community members who live, work, and raise families in Pickens County. They study local needs, evaluate proposals, and decide which programs and partners best serve our community's bold goals. They are teachers, business leaders, retired professionals, parents, and neighbors who know this county because they are part of it.

Accountability and Reports

Donors invest in United Way of Pickens County because they trust us to put their gifts to work. We honor that trust by publishing the work we do, the dollars we raise, and the financial governance documents that hold us accountable to this community.

Impact Reports

Each year, we publish reports that show the work donors are funding across Pickens County. From summer reading camps to early literacy sessions to free tax preparation, these reports tell the story of what your gifts make possible.
