Long-Term Recovery Group Event

Join United Way of Pickens County and community partners for the launch of the Pickens County Long-Term Recovery Group (LTRG), a collaborative effort to strengthen recovery, coordination, and community resilience following Hurricane Helene.

This meeting will introduce the purpose and structure of an LTRG, highlight current unmet needs and recovery priorities in Pickens County, and outline how organizations can engage in coordinated recovery efforts moving forward.

Community Resilience

When a crisis happens, it is crucial to have a set of tools ready to respond. Our work in Community Resilience focuses on supporting individuals and families during times of crisis—whether they’re struggling to pay rent, afford food, or keep the utilities on, or coping with the aftermath of a natural disaster. We partner closely with local organizations, emergency responders, and community leaders to build a more connected and supportive safety net, ensuring that help is available when our neighbors need it most.

Long-Term Recovery Group

On a quiet road in Pickens County, a family is still living under a tarp-covered roof, waiting for the repairs that will let them sleep through the night without worry. The news trucks left long ago. The headlines moved on. The damage did not.

Recovery does not end when a disaster passes. For many of our neighbors, it is still happening.

The Pickens County Long-Term Recovery Group (LTRG) is a cooperative network of local nonprofits, faith communities, government partners, and volunteers working together to help individuals and families recover after disaster. The LTRG helps close the gaps that remain after insurance, personal resources, and available assistance have been exhausted, so no neighbor is left behind as attention shifts elsewhere.
