In this season of giving, United Way Worldwide partnered with USA Today on a national feature showcasing how local communities are making a meaningful impact.
We’re excited to share that USA Today’s annual Holiday Gift Guide highlighted Camp iRock and featured three of
our exceptional Camp iRock instructors.
Camp iRock is a four-week summer literacy program supported by generous donors and a strong collaboration between United Way of Pickens County, the School District of Pickens County, Clemson University’s Call Me MISTER program, and the YMCA of Easley, Pickens, and Powdersville. Along with free transportation, meals, field trips, character development, and more, Camp iRock offers a curriculum designed to close the achievement gap and prevent vulnerable children from falling behind during the summer months. Camp iRock doesn’t just improve reading skills—it helps set children on a positive path for the future.
United Way was recently named #1 on the Chronicle of Philanthropy’s America’s Favorite Charities list—an honor that reflects the collective impact made possible through strong community partnerships like Camp iRock.
We are grateful to Dontaira Terrell, a writer with USA Today’s editorial team, for helping bring national attention not only to Camp iRock, but to the vital work carried out by our United Way and the entire United Way network.
